tinyNOWS is my coaching practice, created especially for teaching other hungry souls the art of Savoring in the form of a simple, brief Sensory Mindfulness practice called NOW. The NOW practice, which I developed to use myself to cope with a rollercoaster mood and the existential anxiety of aging and the daily grind, has become a way to live in deeper connection with this world and human existence itself. It helps keeps me grounded and helps me feel alive and grateful for the so-called small stuff. Writer Katherine May calls this “enchantment” in her recent book by the same name.
I love to travel and live life well with great food, music, art, etc. and I occasionally use psychedelics to go deep on a visceral level, but I don’t want to shuffle through my days in between peak experiences and “things to look forward to;” I want to immerse in the moments and objects and textures of everyday life and experience them as the miracles I know they are. I want to fully use my senses to be and feel more fully alive every day because life is short. As we get older it can feel like it’s rapidly shortening.
Your mind can know the world is a miracle, but without a practice to do that is easy and quick enough to actually use all the time, that’s all you’ll experience: knowing. I’m tired of just knowing and only feeling the gratitude and excitement for life during “special experiences.” I need a quick, reliable method that can take me into the visceral feelings of enhanced sensory attention, savoring, and gratitude when I’m not taking a drug or having some other peak experience to do it. I want to feel the enthusiasm and meaning that comes with mindful immersion in the details of things around me on a daily basis. Maybe you do too.
tinyNOWS is companioning and guiding for those of us who don’t have several thousand or a week to spend in [insert postcard place here] for a so-called life-changing one-off. I’m not knocking retreats or beautiful locales, but for me, the most lasting changes happen when the learning is embedded in my real life.
I need to practice with the stuff of the everyday and so do you.
My coaching is not therapy, but incorporates the same personal, sometimes confrontational but always nurturing approach I take as a therapist. It puts the focus on one specific tool to practice, low-hanging fruit already part of your life with which to practice, and focuses on trouble-shooting obstacles to your goal of regular, second nature mindful attention and deeper, more joyful connection to the stuff of everyday life, without the deep dive into your deep-seated issues or exploration of everything else going on in your life. It helps you stay focused on living mindfully with your senses by learning effective tools to do it.
tinyNOWS walks you through the process in real time—no sending you home with homework without doing it with you first, and again later, after you’ve tried and struggled. This is bottom-up work—we practice the doing, rather than just talking about it, and then we go home and live the new learning.

$200 for a 60 minute cram session on the basics of the NOW tool and leave with a plan for when and how to use it in your daily life.
$500 for a package of 3 individual (60 min.) sessions: Session #1 - Prep for the savoring journey and a brief intro to the steps of NOW, Session #2 - Practice using NOW in the environment of your home or outside in the location of your choice, (online or by phone) with me, helping you navigate your obstacles, predictable and unpredictable, and helping you deepen your practice, noticing and taking in aspects of each step with pleasure and meaning you may miss on your own, Session #3 - Integration of your experience of NOW and planning for how you’re going to use NOW in your everyday life (and how you’ll help yourself REMEMBER TO USE IT)!
$300 for a series of 4 (60 min.) group sessions: Session #1 - Preparation for the savoring journey, forming our savoring community, intro to the steps of NOW, ideas for what to use it with and when, Session #2-Practicing NOW inside with everyday objects Session #3-Practicing NOW outside in nature with living things, Session #4- Integration of the savoring journey, review of the NOW steps, pitfalls and troubleshooting, planning for everyday, ongoing use, and closing the circle of our savoring community. If you join a local group, with a minimum of 3, maximum of 8, we will visit a convenient outdoor location such as a park to practice using NOW and honing your POW (powers of wow). If our group consists of participants not local to Denver, we will meet online and practice in outdoor and indoor locations local to you.
